SEO, an abbreviation for search engine optimization is the process of improving ranking of a website on search engine results pages (SERPs)to get more ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ traffic. In today's digital world, a website is as important as a business storefront. Your website is often a prospective customer's first impression of your business. The ease-of-use, content, and findability of your site are critical to success. Below are a few tips.

1. Make sure your website is responsive and mobile-friendly. 2. Optimize each page for a target keyword or phrase including Title Tag, URL, Headlines, Meta Description, Content, Image Alt Text, and Image Filenames. 3. Use a readable URL structure with real word separated by a dash "-".

4. Your company name and address should be listed in text on every page, not just in the logo.

5. Include text links throughout your website's content to other pages on your site, using your target keywords as the link text. Here are the SEO tips that are still relevant after Google’s‘panda’ and ‘penguin’ updates: 1. Write Great Content:

Don’t just write good content. Write ‘GREAT’ content & establish your thought leadership in your industry. Your customers must see you as an industry leader who knows about its business very well. It’s plain simple. Google wants what it's users also want: the best search results. Websites that provide original & fresh content that engages users will always be preferred to others on search engines. Writing relevant content that users find interesting will not only engage users but also build your credibility in the industry. As you become a trusted resource for information, users will be more likely to buy your services. 2. Social Media:

Don’t ignore this media powerhouse. Social media is an excellent platform to promote your website or blog. As you share interesting and engaging content with your customers on social media, they will like, comment as well as share it. This will be noted by Google which will rank your website higher on its search engine. Due to this reason social media has now become an important SEO tool and is being used quite effectively by businesses to get more traffic to their websites & generate business leads. 3. Optimize for Keywords: Choosing right keywords to target is an important component of your SEO strategy. Use keyword research tools like ‘Google Adwords’ to find out how people are searching for your products or services. Understand which keywords are driving most of the traffic to your website. Pick the best keywords and incorporate them in your website content. Don’t use too many keywords else it will amount to ‘keyword spamming’. Maintain a healthy ratio of 1%-3%. Also, don’t target more than 2-3 keywords for a single page or article. 4. Title, Meta-tags, Meta-Description, Images: These are some of the most important components for on-page optimization. Use a proper and relevant tile for every page of your website. The title as well as Meta tags should describe what your page is all about. Your description should clearly state what your page is written about, and must be engaging enough to generate users’ interest. Also, don’t forget to use ‘Alt text’ for images. Images have no SEO value as search engines can’t crawl or read them. 5. Monitor Performance:

Use & regularly monitor tracking tools like Google Analytics to see how users are interacting with your website. Which pages are attracting the highest number of visitors? What pages are giving the highest conversion rates? Which keywords are driving most of the traffic to your website? Make regular changes or modifications to your website on the basis of these parameters. SEO is a slow process & takes time as well as efforts. However, once you have taken the necessary steps, you start getting results within a span of few months.
